The range of titles for the same or similar role is extensive, as well. The amount of influence varies enormously by industry, region, company size, company structure, and personal preference. What an enormous waste!įurther exacerbating the controlling problem and causing more confusion is the fact that there are a wide range of responsibilities, focus areas, team sizes, and resources allocated. The main observation that I have experienced is that a majority of organizations treat and deploy their controllers as an accountant by a different name. Through my experience, I now feel well equipped to dive deeply into the subject. To my surprise, I’ve noticed that the operational finance gaps have generally been consistent which leads me to believe that this is a large-scale epidemic. I have spent the last 8 years of my career ingrained in the controlling functions for a variety of manufacturers of all sizes and types. It is a black hole in terms of education, awareness, and standardization. Great cost management enables and ensures the highest possible level of product quality, machine reliability, and plant productivity at the lowest possible cost.įrom my own experiences and through observing the experiences of others, I have noticed that the best practices around effective controlling are largely missing from the expertise sphere of information. Cost management occurs through strategic implementation of identifying and remedying waste by executing on the commitment and coordination of resources. this is one of the most misaligned roles within most organizations today.Īs many of us know, effective cost management is the main measure of accountability for business leaders.
Clean and Rebuild the project. The Operational Controller is a strategic role within an organization.
Open the SLN file (with a text editor such as Notepad++) and change the path to the project (there should be multiple places).
Accept the changes.Ĭhange the AssemblyTitle and AssemblyProduct in Properties/AssemblyInfo.csĭelete bin and obj directories in Windows Explorer When you have ReSharper installed, right-click the project again and select Refactor -> Adjust Namespaces. Change the "Assembly name" and "Default namespace" on the Application tab. Right-click the project again and select Properties. Right-click the project in Solution Explorer, select Rename, and enter the new name This is how you can try to do it with projects: ), you will see that the new name for the solution has been changed. If you open again Visual Studio and open the solution by Browsing after the new name (File -> Open -> Project/Solution. If you want to change that (and I did wanted to do that), you have to close Visual Studio and then rename that folder. This will not change the name of the folder in which the entire solution exists.
Go to Solution Explorer (from menu View -> Solution Explorer), select the solution and then hit F4 (or from menu – View -> Properties Window), select the Name property and type the new name and then press ENTER. I was also struggling with this problem and didn't find automated way to do this.
